I have been playing piano since I was six years old and it has grown to be a passion, not just a hobby. I believe that music plays a huge role in our society, and therefore their are those who desperately need to be exposed to and educated about it.  Being able to teach students about music, how it works, and making music with them brings so much joy into my life.

I am 24 years old and currently a senior at Houston Baptist University pursuing a degree in a Bachelors of Music Performance-Piano. I have been teaching piano for 7 years, independently and through music schools, managing up to 25 students from the ages of 4-35. My method of teaching is structured around the core foundational elements of technique, theory, sight-reading, harmonization, ear training, and performance. Music is my passion, and teaching is one of my outlets that allows me to share the beauty and enjoyment found in music.

What happens in a lesson?
Lessons are tailored to the interest of the student.  There will be a blend of teaching how to read music-(however a brand new student will be playing simple songs at the first lesson),
building dexterity and technique, selecting good music pieces, gaining musical knowledge to interpret songs and the emphasis in on positive feedback for the student and  having fun!

Rates are $60 per Hour private (not group) lesson. We come to YOUR home (saving you time, money, gas.  We teach piano/keyboard, cello, violin, and now almost all other  string, brass, woodwind, percussion instruments. EZ sign-up, no fees, advance billing, just pay as you go!  No contracts or commitments!

Dr. Michael Guevara, founder and director of Cinco Ranch Conservatory of Music LLC, also serves as the Artistic Director for the Katy Performing Arts Society, and is a founding member of the Katy Jazz Association.  Dr. Guevara is an accomplished composer, arranger and author of the ebook, Monster Chops. JILL KITZMILLER, NFTM received her Bachelor and Masters of Music Degrees in Piano Pedagogy from the University of Texas, Austin.  Her teachers include Nancy Garrett, David Renner and Danielle Martin (piano), Amanda Vick Lethco (pedagogy), Martha Hilley (class piano), and Dorothy Payne and Donald Grantham (theory and composition).

Jill has maintained a private studio since 1972, and has taught music classes as part of the adjunct faculty at Montgomery College in Conroe, North Harris and Kingwood. Her areas of expertise include Class Piano, Fundamentals, Music Appreciation, Music Theory, American Music and Music Literature.

In addition to her career as an educator, Ms. Kitzmiller accompanies choirs and juries, and performs in teacher and student recitals. She frequently judges piano festivals and contests, and stays active in many music teacher organizations.  Jill is currently a doctoral candidate for an EdD in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University. Jill’s daughter is a PhD student in Experimental Neuro-Psychology at UN-Reno, and her son is a post- graduate at Columbus University, GA. He currently studies cello with Wendy Warner.

Band Leader - Opry Show Band Staff Musician - Piano / Keyboards | Johnny Foster is a veteran studio musician, vocalist, songwriter, arranger, recording engineer, sound man, and gospel artist. Since 1979 Johnny has been involved in music through his work in local and national venues. Johnny has opened for over 30 well known national acts, and has turned down jobs with the likes of Clint Black and Doug Supernaw. Originally a clarinetist, then an organist, Johnnys love of keyboard and synthesizer has kept him playing and winning awards locally and nationally. Johnny has been on such televised events as the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Good Morning Houston, and Houston Country Nights. Johnny has recorded a traditional album and an original gospel album, as well as recording projects for over 300 local artists. Johnny is a full time piano teacher and is currently on the praise team at the Lonestar Cowboy Church in Montgomery, Texas.

I went to Sam Houston State University with a piano scholarship.  I began as a piano performance major and switched half way though to Music Education with a vocal emphasis.   I now teach general music at an elementary school and teach lessons in the evening.

My education includes Doctorate Degree in Piano Performance from University of Houston Moores School of Music. As a pianist I have performed in concerts throughout different parts of the nation, both as a soloist and with the orchestras, collaborated in concerts with different world known musicians, and have won prizes in different regional and international competitions.  I have 10+ years of teaching experience with students of all skill levels ages 5 to 70+. I specialize in classical style, occasionally teach pieces from different styles such as pop, jazz, etc.

I come from a musical family with both my parents singing in the church choirs.  My earliest memories are singing with the rest of my siblings at around 3 years old on long car trips.  When I was 5, I began singing solos in front of our entire congregation of about 300 people. My Mother called me absolutely fearless.

I started piano lessons the age of 5 as well, and continued in lessons for the next ten years with Concert Pianist, Francis Harris.

Because I was singing so much, my parents decided I had better get formal voice lessons. I began with Ex-Metropolitan Opera Singer Charlo Bowles at the age of 7 and continued for the next 7 years.  I was always in choir, whether in church or at school, until I graduated High School.  During that time, I was in every musical our schools produced and played the lead in several performances.

I started lessons on guitar at the age of 10.  There were many songs I wanted to sing, that didn’t sound right with the piano, but sounded better or were written for the guitar.

I started doing concerts of my original music accompanied with the guitar, at the age of 15 in school, and was asked to perform in other schools for various functions and started establishing a reputation at that time.

I started singing professionally at the age of 16, in a club inChicagocalled Bar-Babies, (which is where the group Chicago got its start).  I played for 2 hours per day 4 days per week.  I didn’t have a large repertoire at that time and had to repeat music often, but I was learning fast and was enjoying the living I was able to eek out even at that age.

I continued to make a living as a singer/guitarist for the next 10 years.  Playing up and down the East Coast at places like St. Simon’s King & Prince Hotel. Hilton Head Island, The Hilton.  I did Cruise Liners and resorts and traveled all over the U.S., parts of Canada and a nine month tour of Europe, all before I was 22 years old.  I opened for John Denver at Tulalip Bay Indian Reservation right before his first album release.

I joined the National College Concert Performers Association and was booked as an opening act for several head-liners like: Johnny Mathis, James Taylor, the group “Exile”, and such.

I stopped singing professionally for a time, as I settled down to have a family and began teaching part-time.  As the Learning Center Director for Mars Music, I attended several seminars, one in particular was Alfred’s Adult Piano Course in which I became a certified instructor.  I found I enjoyed teaching more than working on the office level, so my teaching hours and student load began to increase.

I realized that even though I started writing songs at the age of 12, I needed to understand why music was written the way it was.  I started studying Music Theory, and the world of music suddenly became clearer to me.  Not only the enjoyment of listening and writing, but now understanding the more technical side helped me to enjoy it at a deeper level and write better music.

My main goal in life, is to impart the knowledge and experience I have gained through my 40+ years of music, whether professionally or as a teacher.  I hope to inspire another generation to continue this remarkable tradition of learning and playing music and find the enrichment and friendships through it, carries over into our everyday lifestyles.

Hello everyone,

My name is Nina and I want to become a part-time piano teacher because I love playing piano and really enjoying helping more people to learn the skills. Music is not just for listening and it could be really creative and entertaining if you know some basic techniques. I am good with kids because I used to teach kids playing piano in my mom's kindergarten. And of course parents and adults are also welcome.

I started playing piano since I was 5 years old and I earned the highest-level certificate for amateur piano players (issued by CCOM(Central Conservatory of Music), the top one in China) when I was just in forth grade. Man they were really tough years for a kid because my parents used to expect me to become a professional piano player but today I am still not a professional musician but it never stop me loving playing piano and music, especially classical music.

Also since I am Chinese I can teach in Chinese too if you want to pick up some second language.
